Mary F. Contreras, 78, of Hearne, TX passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 25, 2019. She was born March 30, 1941 in Cameron, TX to her parents, George and Tress Smith. Mary was a strong, independent woman who loved her family unconditionally. She had a feisty personality and a great sense of humor. Her presence will be missed and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Tress Smith; daughters, Teresa Contreras, Patricia Contreras; brothers, George W. Smith, Jr., and James Edward Smith.

Mary is survived by her children, Pete Contreras, Jr., Robert G. Smith, Ben Contreras, Fannie Martinez and husband, Poli, Debra Serna and husband, Manuel, Donna Garcia and fiancé, Trevor Rice, and Steven Contreras and wife Jackie; brother, Horse Smith; sisters, Louise Garcia and husband, Manuel, Helen Galvan and husband, Ernest, Tress Arbugh and husband, Dennis, and Beatrice; 18  grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

The Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Wednesday, May 29th at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center. The Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, May 30th in the Bluebonnet Chapel of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, 3001 S. College Ave., Bryan, TX 77801 with Pastor Jose P. Alaniz officiating.
