Mary Kersee

Mary L. Thornton Kersee, 49, of Bryan, passed away Sunday August 7, 2016. A memorial service celebrating her life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday August 12, 2016 at St. Michael’s Chapel, 2402 S. College Ave. in Bryan. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers.

Born October 8, 1966, in Bryan, to Raymond Sr. and Rose Thornton, Mary has been a lifetime resident of Bryan. She was a long time human resource assistant at Target and enjoyed her many years working there. Mary will be remembered as a great piano player, fantastic gospel singer, and her wonderful sense of humor. She also loved cooking and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Christopher Thornton; and sister Nettie Fields.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, DaNeetra and Kenneth Walker, Stephanie and Germaine Holt Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joeanna and Glouster Brooks Sr., Annie and Oritz Green Jr., Naomi Neblett, Dianne and Edward Gradington, Sarah Thornton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond Jr. and Kim Thornton, Jimmy and Alma Thornton, Odis Thornton; grandchildren, Alyssa, Xavian, Kendahl; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Mary’s family would like to express their gratitude to the kind and compassionate staffs at Davita Dialysis, Lampstand Nursing and Rehab, Navasota Nursing and Rehab, and Compassionate Care Hospice.

  5. I know Mary is smiling down at everyone with all the love that surrounded her. I worked with Mary at Target, and I know that family was very important to her. I am so sorry for your loss, but I know she is in good hands. I am grateful that I got to know this beautiful, extremely funny woman. My condolence to everyone, and y’all are in my prayers.
