Mary Lou Garcia Chavez “Ama,” 77, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Visitation was Saturday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m., Sunday, February 6, at Callaway-Jones. Interment will follow at the Bryan City Cemetery.
Mary was born July 9, 1933 to Pete V. and Adela Garcia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rodrigo Chavez Rosas, her parents, a daughter, two sons, a granddaughter, and four great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Pete De La Garza, Olivia and Louis Sauceda, Clementine and Charlie De Leon, Roy De La Garza, Mary Lou and Lawrence Garcia, Jonah De La Garza, Rosemary Sanchez, Jo Ann and Donny Garcia; 29 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
