Morris Lynn “Bubba” Burlin

Morris Lynn “Bubba” Burlin, 79, of Snook, Texas, passed to his new life with the Lord on December 30, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dr. Marjorie “Peachie” Burlin; one daughter, Terri Lynn Allen and son-in-law, Eddie, of Lufkin; son-in-law, Paul Funderburg, of College Station; 5 grandchildren: Kalon and wife Kim Allen, and Kyle Allen and wife Sarah, all of Lufkin, and Treyton Funderburg, of Plano, Austin and Sarah Funderburg, of Tyler, and Kati Funderburg, of College Station; his sister, Sue Krenek and brother-in-law, Bill; three great-grandchildren and three nephews. He also leaves behind many dear friends and a legacy of generosity and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Mary Oliver (Berger) Burlin; son, Curtis Lynn Burlin; daughter, Sondra Kaye (Burlin) Funderburg; and brother, Curtis Glynn Burlin.

Morris, a native of Bryan, Texas, was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in 1954 and Texas A & M Class of 1958. He served his country in the U. S. Army for two years. After 30 years, he retired from the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service, where he was employed as a food inspector. He operated his own auction business for over 20 years. Morris enjoyed life, loving God and his family first. Other loves of his life included country-western music and dancing, rodeos, horses, dogs, and babies.

A Memorial Rosary will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Somerville, Texas, at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 3, 2016 with a visitation beginning at 5:30p.m. The Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Stephen Nesrsta at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 4, 2016, at St. Ann Catholic Church. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
