Morris Maddox

Morris Maddox, 93, of Bryan, passed away on Sunday June 19, 2016 in Bryan. His family will receive guests during visiting hours 6:30 to 8:30pm on Wednesday June 22, 2016 at St. Michael’s Academy Chapel, 2402 South College Avenue in Bryan. Funeral Service will be at 10a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2009 Cavitt Avenue, Bryan.  Interment will follow in the College Station City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers.

Morris was born on Christmas Day 1922 to John Maddox and Ollie Crocker Maddox in North Zulch, Texas. Morris served his life’s passion in Law Enforcement as a police officer. He retired from the University Police Department after 37 years. He was a member of both the VFW and The American Legion Post 159 in Bryan.  Morris was a firm believer in his Lord as Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

He married the love of his life Miss Bettie Coats on August 1, 1942.  He then left to serve his country during WWII as a proud soldier of the US Army. Upon his return home to meet his bride they lived in Bryan where they began their family.  They raised two children Glynn and Donna Jean.

His parents; his wife Bettie Maddox; his daughter Donna Jean Bonjo; his brothers W.O. Maddox and Johnny Maddox, all precede him in death.

He is survived by his son Glynn Maddox and wife Mary; his sister Bonnie Berry; his grandchildren Tammy Threadgill and husband Randy, Roger Maddox and wife Trish, Kevin Maddox and fiancé Stacey, and David Maddox; five great grandchildren; and other relatives.

It gave me such pleasure and enjoyment to just sit and visit with you, take you out to eat to our favorite places, run errands with you, visit your friends, drive around town, surprise you with special treats, and pet and play with Angel. I will always treasure our friendship with fond memories. Love you!
