Nanci Jackson

Posted By Cody Jones On August 14, 2015 @ 2:27 pm In Obituary | 1 Comment

Nanci Kay Jackson, age 70, left this world peacefully on the morning of August 14, 2015. She was born to Marlin Austin and Elizabeth Pope- Austin on January 20, 1945, in Lincoln Park, Michigan.

Above all else, Nanci’s family and dear friends were of upmost importance to her and her greatest joy. When she wasn’t busy entertaining or lunching with friends, she loved to play Bingo, hit the $1,000 jackpot on the Wheel of Fortune Slots, and shopping so she could decorate…. And then redecorate again. Nanci was involved in many local organizations and was a very active member of the Texas Apartment Association and the Bryan – College Station Apartment Association, of which she held many different offices. She was also a big supporter of the Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley.

Nanci will be greeted in Heaven by her parents, her favorite ex-husband Lester Jackson, and her grand-daughter Macey Hooks.

She will lovingly be missed by her children: Lonny Hooks, Scott Hooks and wife Mandy, Meka Bowling and husband Mike; Her loyal sister, Marlene Rogers from Anchorage, Alaska; Her many grandchildren to whom she was known to as Oma, Ashley Hooks and soon to be husband Nick Whitworth, Jordan Jackson, Paige Hooks, Dymond Brown, Larry Brown, Hannah Jackson, Ava Hooks, and Jenna Hooks- and her new great-grandson Carter Brown.

We will be gathering at The Veranda on 08-20-2015 at 12:00 p.m. to celebrate all that was Oma. All friends, family and acquaintances are encouraged to come and share memories, stories, and condolences. Since she lit up every room she entered and left a trail of glitter behind, feel free to wear something colorful in remembrance of her vibrant spirit. Address to The Veranda is 4706 Wallis Road, Bryan, TX 77808.

In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be sent in her honor to the Down Syndrome Association of Brazos Valley. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Condolences for the family of “Nanci Jackson”

Condolence from Angela on November 18th, 2015 1:06 pm

Awww…Yes, we all have our own “special memories” of MAECY. Sadly, MAECY didn’t know her Oma, having met her only once at 4 years old. As a first-generation American, Nanzi proudly held onto her German heritage, and is now with her long-lost father, whom she spoke of often.
My sincere condolences.
