Alice Jean Doriocourt, née Cooper, born on March 6, 1938, in Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, in Bryan, Texas. She was the eldest child of Alice Cooper, née Uzwiak, and Eugene Cooper. Throughout her life, Ms. Doriocourt remained a devoted Catholic, a faith that guided her actions and principles.
A talented musician, Alice played the violin with enthusiasm and grace, proudly participating in the Connecticut State Orchestra. Music was a significant part of her life, and she carried her love for it wherever she went. Generosity was a hallmark of her character; she was known for her kindness toward others, always ready to lend a helping hand.
Alice shared her life with her beloved husband, Luis, for an impressive 51 years. Together, they nurtured many interests and passions, particularly their love for animals. The couple raised, milked, and sold registered Nubian dairy goats, providing a loving home for Great Pyrenees dogs and an impressive number of cats that filled their lives with joy and companionship.
Alice was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and her sister, Barbara Schonert, née Cooper, as well as her brothers Gary and Eugene Cooper. She is survived by her loving husband, Luis, and their four sons: Kenneth and his wife, Jackque; David; Steven and his wife, Osrat; and Kevin and his wife, Olivia. She is also survived by her brothers Tim and Marge Cooper, Michael Cooper and Jeri Deveau, David and Karen Cooper, and her sister Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle and her husband, David O'Boyle. The depth of her legacy is further reflected in the numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry her memory forward.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 10:00 AM on October 18, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Franklin, Texas. A second Mass will take place at St. Francis Xavier in New Milford, Connecticut, at 11:00 AM Eastern Time on November 1, 2025.
Alice Jean Doriocourt will be remembered fondly for her musical talent, her deep compassion for all living beings, and the profound impact she had on her family and community. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
