Alice Fisher Smith

Alice Cochran Smith stepped into eternal glory to be with her lord and savior on February 8, 2026.

Alice was born January 28, 1948 in Corpus Christi to Mildred and Peter Fisher. She was raised in Houston and was a graduate of Lamar High School. She attended and graduated from The University of Texas where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

After college Alice lived in Dallas where she was the manager of the Neiman Marcus Tea Room. She married Richard Smith and they moved to Bryan, Texas where Alice became a member of the Junior League, the Woman's Club and First United Methodist Church. Alice loved being a stay-at-home mother to daughter, Ashley, who was the joy of her life. When Ashley got older, Alice attended Sam Houston University where she got her teaching certification. She became a loving and exemplary Kindergarten teacher at Navarro Elementary School in Bryan for 18 years. She was adored by her students and their parents. Even after retirement, her passion for teaching continued as she tutored students for many years. Alice always wore a smile and modeled unshakable faith and a positive attitude. Even when her health deteriorated, she never once complained. Instead, she became a loyal and devoted prayer warrior for family and friends. She touched the life of everyone she met. Alice loved teaching, her dogs and having fun with friends. She especially loved being Ashley's #1 cheerleader and bragging about her handsome and perfect grandsons.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Peter Fisher, sister Flo Parker and husband Jim, and husband Richard Smith. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Ashley Beck and husband Chad, grandsons Parker and Henry Beck, brother Bruce Fisher and wife Carol, beloved nieces Lisa Fisher and Pam Jones, nephew Roger Parker, numerous great nieces and nephews, a host of friends and hundreds of former Kindergarten students. Special thanks to Comfort Keepers. Extra special thanks to Karrie Clark, Judy Owens, Grace Pedretti and Beverly Tennell who cared for and loved Alice so well.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Callaway Jones Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be at 10:00 followed by a memorial service at 11:00.
