I am a Kingskid who has won the victory…
On Monday, April 28, 2025, Ashleigh Amari Dillon passed away at the age of 27 at her home in Bryan, Texas, with her loving parents by her side after a battle with Telangiectatic Osteosarcoma (TOS).
Amari (as she was affectionately called) was born May 31, 1997, in Bryan, Texas, to Jeffrey Scott and TiTinisha S. (Washington) Dillon. She lived in Indianapolis, Indiana as a child until age 8 and then moved to Bryan, Texas. She attended Bryan ISD schools and is a graduate of Bryan High School class of 2015.
Amari, alongside her mother and father, survived a car accident at 10 months old that claimed the life of her big brother, Jeffrey Isaac Dillon. From a very young age, she fought through a traumatic brain injury and participated in Special Education classes throughout her schooling. She deeply cared for her family and always tried to make others happy. Her laughter had a way of lighting up the room, and she found true happiness in the simple joys of playing basketball, getting lost in a good book, expressing herself through drawing, and discovering the world through travel. She was able to visit the Bahamas, Cozumel, Yucatan and Costa Maya via the high seas with her favorite people in the world - her devoted parents. Following her cancer diagnosis and a leg amputation, Amari learned to walk with a prosthesis, yet still enjoyed visiting several special places, including SeaWorld and Universal Studios, during the last months of her life. Creating memories with her family warmed her heart tremendously.
Amari was preceded in death by her big brother, Jeffrey Isaac Dillon; her grandfathers, Herbert Dillon and Willie Jackson; her great-grandmother, Patty Goffner; her great-grandfather, Eugene Goffner; and her cousin, Shelbey Goffner.
Amari is survived by her loving parents, Jeffrey and TiTinisha Dillon; grandmothers, Brenda Jackson, Regina Killebrew, and Alita Owens; maternal aunts: Shemeka (Curtis) Washington and Valerie Jackson; paternal aunts: Rita (Christopher) Gongora, Alison Dillon, Whitney Dillon, Jennifer Killebrew and Jama Mason. She is also survived by her close companion, Teericka Parker and the two loves of her life, Jahad Yancey and Ah’Teliah Dickson.
A celebration of Amari’s life will be held at Callaway Jones Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. Amari’s remains will be interred alongside her brother at Washington Park North Cemetery & Mausoleum in Indianapolis, Indiana, at a later date.
