Beverly Johnson Peters

Beverly Peters, age 94, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on November 29, 2025.

Beverly, a native Texan, was born on December 26, 1930 in Columbus, Texas. She was the daughter of Peter Wilbur Johnson and Lillian Wray Probst. Her father worked as a signal maintainer for Southern Pacific Railroad and soon moved the family to Sabinal, Texas where Beverly grew up with her two brothers and sister.

Beverly was the drum major of the Sabinal High School Band and graduated from Sabinal High School. As a teenager, she spent many days at the Frio River with family and friends. She married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Mack Ware and they moved to Eagle Pass, Texas to manage a large ranch. While living there their first daughter, Terry Jane, was born and two years later their second daughter, Janet Kay, came along. Floyd became ill and passed away shortly after Janet was born.

Beverly and her two daughters moved back to Sabinal with her parents. She graduated from Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College in San Marcos, Texas with a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to earn her Master's degree and immediately began her teaching career. In 1960 she met and married Edgar (Pete) Peters and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she taught for 38 years. In 1963 their son, Michael Henry, was born.

After retirement, she was active at Trinity Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, quilted for the needy, and was active with altar guild. At home, she loved gardening and was especially proud of her bluebonnets. She enjoyed visits from her children and grandchildren.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband (Floyd), her brothers Wilbur Wray, and James Archie, and her sister Carolyn Johnson (Kruger). Her beloved husband Pete passed away in 2009.

She is survived by Terry Loehr (Blifford), Janet Zink (Bob), Michael Peters (Theresa). Grandchildren Justin Loehr (Kristen), Brandon Loehr (Natalie), Kyle Loehr, Catherine Zink Gonzales (Dominic), Suzanne Zink Tschirhart (Tyler), Raven Harrison. Great-grandchildren Hannah Loehr, Courtney Loehr Rehfuss (Luke), Mackenzie Loehr, Chase Loehr, Hunter Loehr, Natasha Loehr, Chayse Gonzales, Townsley Gonzales, Kinsley Gonzales, and Olivia Gonzales. Great-great Granddaughter Joanna Rehfuss.

A graveside service will be held at Sabinal Cemetery on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Down Home Ranch, 20250 FM 619, Elgin, TX 78621.
