Billy Holyfield, a dedicated husband, father, and distinguished veteran, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Bryan, Texas, following a courageous battle melanoma and complications arising from a fall He was born on November 7, 1937, in Centerville, Texas, and led a life marked by service, love, and unwavering generosity.
Billy's military career was emblematic of his commitment and passion for serving his country. He proudly served in both the Army and the United States Navy, where he achieved the rank of Master Chief GSMC in engineering. Among the fondest memories of his service, he cherished his time aboard the USS Antietam, forging bonds with his fellow servicemen that would last a lifetime.
A man of diverse interests, Billy was an ardent collector of Corvettes, Harley Davidsons, Triumphs, and BMW bikes. His passion extended beyond vehicles; he found joy in collecting caps, reading, and engaging in meaningful conversations. Billy's love for travel took him to many wonderful places, with Hong Kong holding a special place in his heart.
He was a proud resident of several places throughout his life, having raised his family in Southern California before retiring to his beloved Texas, where Bryan became his home. His generosity knew no bounds, often lending a helping hand to those in need, showcasing his humbleness and genuine nature.
Billy earned a master's degree in Political Science, a testament to his educational pursuits. His personality was marked by success, determination, and a straightforward manner that made him an impeccable provider for his family. Billy valued privacy and appreciated others who respected the boundaries of his personal life.
Above all, his proudest accomplishments were rooted in his relationships. He revered the years spent with his wife, Sonia Holyfield, who sadly passed away on February 6, 2019, leaving him with a broken heart. His relationship with his daughter, Alexandra Johnson, was especially significant, as illustrated by cherished memories of riding dirt bikes together and sharing heartfelt prayers.
Billy is survived by his devoted daughter Alexandra and grandsons Daniel Martinez and Matthew Johnson, as well as his younger brother Charles Force. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Sonia, as well as his mother Lucy and stepfather George W. Force.
