Bill R. Thornal, 90, devoted and endearing husband of Patricia Ann Thornal, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home to the glorious embrace of our Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Bill was born and raised in Lampasas, Texas on July 18, 1936 to Roye Thornal and Eva Mae Bilton. Lived a life dedicated to his faith, defined by good morals.

Graduating from Lampasas High School in 1954, Bill joined the National Guard and spent two years training in Georgia. Deciding to transition to the Air Force, he awaited orders back home in Lampasas where he would meet his breathtaking bride, Patricia Hodge. Marrying April 26, 1957 during an auspicious heavy rain storm, Bill and Pat cherished 69 glorious trips around the Sun. Assigned to Dover, Delaware he completed his time in 1960, and they returned home to Lampasas. Where he would eventually find a new journey forward in Bryan, Texas for the next 60 years.

Starting as a Motorcycle Officer for Bryan P.D spending many years in their service. President of the Brazos Area C.B Radio Club, apart of the “Town Talk” tv show on KBTX where he would give updates and safety tips in the early 70’s and umpired for little league baseball. Continuing on to own and operate independent businesses, running Ambulances for Texas World Speed Way and for the City Of Bryan. While also being a distributor for fire extinguishers and their maintenance.

Bill enjoyed the company of his friends and acquaintances around the coffee table at The Kettle. Discussing business and sharing stories.

During the 70's he became Chief Deputy Constable for Brazos County PCT. 7 Constable Office and would retire in 1996. Even so, living a life of working hard he continued to have independent business to the very end. Owning a striping company, and also instructing for Defensive Driving at Austin Driving School located in Bryan, Texas. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Richard Thornal. He is survived by his Wife Patricia; daughter Renee Thornal-Wade a School Teacher and son Ron Thornal working in aviation; grandchildren Christopher, Katelynn and Julia, great children and several nieces and nephews.

Bill was truly cherished by his family and community, and will be remembered as a humble legend.
