Obituary

Bryan Francis Beery, born on September 7, 1962, in Osage Hospital and raised in the close-knit community of Riceville, Iowa, passed away on May 3, 2026, in Bryan, Texas. Bryan’s life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a profound love for both his family and the natural world.

Bryan’s journey began in Riceville, where he graduated from Riceville High School in 1981. Shortly after, he moved to Forest City, Iowa, accepting a position at Winnebago. During this period, he also served his community as a volunteer EMT, an early reflection of his commitment to helping others. His dedication to public safety and service continued when he later moved to Rochester, Minnesota, to work security at the Kahler Hotel. There, Bryan met numerous celebrities and important figures, broadening his horizons in a unique way.

In 1992, Bryan embraced a new chapter in his life with marriage, becoming a devoted and caring father to his four children: William, Collin, Sean, and Sarah. He took great pride in his family and was especially honored to be a grandfather to Collin’s son, Bennett Beery.

Bryan’s career was diverse and reflected his strong work ethic and adaptability. He worked as a school bus driver for Rochester Public Schools under Laidlaw, then ventured out west to Arizona, where he was employed as a surgery technician at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. His brief time working for Ruger was followed by a significant move to Texas, where he continued his work as a surgery technician, first at Seton Medical Center in Austin and later relocating to Bryan, Texas. In Bryan, Bryan served for several years with the Department of Transportation for Bryan Independent School District before embracing a new role as a truck driver with Knife River. His colleagues always recognized him as a hardworking and committed professional who took pride in every job he undertook.

Bryan was a man deeply connected to the outdoors. His respect for nature was evident in his regular pursuits of hunting, trapping, and fishing. One of his most treasured experiences was a trip to the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. Alongside his love for the natural world, Bryan was an avid music enthusiast, enjoying concerts by iconic artists such as Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, and Hank Williams Jr.—a passion he joyfully shared with his children. His enthusiasm for college football, especially memories of attending the 1986 Rose Bowl to watch Iowa play UCLA, remained a treasured part of his life. In his later years, Bryan found satisfaction in cooking and smoking meats, honing his skills with care and creativity.

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Beery and Norma Jean, his stepmother Mildred Beery, and his stepsister Susie. He leaves behind his beloved children William, Collin (and grandson Bennett), Sean, and Sarah, as well as his brothers Bill, Jim, and Michael.

Bryan Francis Beery’s life was one of steadfast commitment—to his family, his work, and the natural world he so deeply cherished. He will be remembered with respect and admiration by all who had the privilege to know him. Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to visit CallawayJones.com to express their condolences.

Bryan’s legacy endures in the hearts of those he touched, and in the many lives he served with kindness and dedication.
