Butch Griffin

December 17, 1944 — August 26, 2025

Somerville

Butch, as we all know him, was born on December 17, 1944, in Austin TX to Albert Sr. & Opale Griffin. He received his promotion into heaven from his home, with his wife by his side, on Tuesday August 26, 2025.

Butch received Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Community Chapel Somerville in 2004. There he served as a board member and He and his wife served on the praise and worship team. The Griffins began attending Snook Assembly of God Church in 2014 where he was a valued and respected member of the church as well as a board member. Butch was a man of prayer with great faith in God.

Butch married the love of his life, Deanna Artz in Houston TX after a brief courtship on April 15, 1967. Butch served his wife with all his heart. When she would thank him for his care he would say to her, “That is what I am here for.” When others would complement Butch for his care and kindness towards her Butch would jokingly say in that Butch sort of way “Well I have to protect my cook.”

Butch worked for his grandfather who owned a furniture store until the age of 21. Then he moved to Houston where he worked for several commercial door and hardware companies specializing in sales and specifications. In 1990 Butch and DeAnna moved to the country where he took a job with a door and hardware company in Bryan TX. Butch had a great work ethic and served his customers with honesty and integrity. Butch retired in 2008.

Butch was a perfectionist, good enough was not good enough for Butch, it had to be perfect. He loved working on his property and could fix anything, and he did fix everything.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife DeAnna and his furry friend, Sophie. Brother and Sister in laws, Ronnie & Glenda Artz, Doug & Deb Artz. Nieces and nephews Courtney & Brian, Chris, Amy and Jason. Many other great nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and many friends. He will be greatly missed by us all.
