Carlos Sotelo, born in Hearne, Texas, peacefully went home to be with our Lord on June 4, 2026, in Temple, Texas.

Carlos was preceded in death by his father, Nieves Sotelo. He leaves behind his loving mother, Angelina Sotelo; his sisters, Orlanda Sotelo, Ana Sotelo, and Angelica Ruiz-Duran and his brothers, Andres Sotelo, Antonio Sotelo, Abel Sotelo, Mauricio Sotelo, and Ynes Sotelo. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Carlos was a selfless man whose love for his family knew no bounds. Family was the center of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to bring loved ones together. Whether attending family gatherings or planning them himself, Carlos found joy in creating moments that would become lasting memories.

Although he never had children of his own, Carlos had a special love for children and deeply cared for his nieces and nephews. He often asked about them, worried over them, and loved them as if they were his own. Those who knew him understood what a devoted and loving father he would have been if given the opportunity.

In his younger years, Carlos spent much of his time surrounded by family, embracing both the joys and challenges that come with close family relationships. He enjoyed movies, video games, and adventures with his family. Some of his favorite memories were made during trips to zoos, aquariums, Mexico, and countless outings that simply allowed him to enjoy life and the people he loved. Carlos also had a passion for food and loved experimenting with new culinary ideas.

As he grew older, Carlos pursued his dream of becoming a police officer. He quickly became a Level III Commissioned Security Officer and excelled in every position he held. Through hard work and dedication, he was preparing to begin a federally employed security position, a goal he had worked tirelessly to achieve. Sadly, life had other plans.

After becoming ill in 2017, Carlos experienced a profound spiritual transformation. In 2020, he encountered the true Word of Jesus Christ and was filled with the Holy Spirit. His family witnessed a remarkable change in him. Guided by his faith, Carlos found a church home at Casa de Dios under the leadership of Pastor Cristobal Ledezma. He faithfully attended services and developed a passion for sharing the Gospel. Many times, after church services ended, Carlos remained for hours preaching and speaking with people in parks and throughout the community. He had plans to continue ministering in prisons and hospitals, but his declining health forced those plans to be postponed.

Even so, Carlos’s faith never wavered. Through his testimony, he brought many people closer to God, including members of his own family and countless others whose lives he touched along the way.

During his final years, Carlos spent much of his time attending clinics and hospitals. Despite the challenges he faced, he never lost his sense of humor, often joking that the nurses liked him because he was handsome. He filled his days reading Scripture, watching movies, spending time with loved ones, and enjoying drives around town with his mother and brother. Those simple rides became treasured moments, offering him peace, freedom, and joy.

Carlos will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his generous heart, his love for family, his determination, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the faith he shared will continue to live on.

Carlos’s absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but his family finds comfort in knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord he faithfully served.
