Carol Jeane Sandel, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, friend, passed away on September 14, 2025, in her hometown of Bryan, Texas. Born on December 9, 1945, to Margie and Ray Williamson, Carol’s life was one enriched by love, family, and cherished friendships.
Until his passing in 2024, Carol shared a deep and abiding love with her husband, Duwayne Sandel. Their marriage spanned an incredible 60 years, filled with adventures, laughter, and countless precious memories. Carol cherished the time spent visiting family and close friends, traveling in their motor home, and enjoying trips to the casino.
In the late 1980s, Carol co-owned Edge’s in downtown Bryan, where her vibrant personality and commitment to her community shone through. She made lasting impressions on those she met, embodying warmth and generosity.
Carol’s legacy is carried on by her brother, Ken Williamson, and his wife, Beth, along with their daughter, Robin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Jerry Currie and Courtney Lenz; Paige Smith Street and her husband, Jerry; Shannon Smith; Wendy Smith; and Tracy Smith. Carol was a wonderful aunt, and her great-nieces, Shelbi Currie, Sydney Christian, and Kaitlyn Pledger, as well as her great-nephew, Cooper Currie, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Duwayne Sandel; her daughter, Rebecca Sandel; her father, Ray Williamson; her mother, Margie Richie, and her husband, Jimmy; her brother, Ronald Williamson; her sister, Debbie Williamson; her nephew, Jason Currie; her parents-in-law, Raymond and Gladys Sandel; her brother- and sister-in-law, Richard and Virginia Smith; and her niece, Rachel Smith.
Carol Jeane Sandel will be remembered for her inherent kindness, her devotion to her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life honoring Carol will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3001 S College Ave, Bryan, TX 77801. It will be a time to celebrate her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
