Obituary

Charles of McAdams passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 30, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on April 24, 1936, he lived a long life marked by devotion to his family, pride in his work, and an enduring love of craftsmanship, competition, and time spent with those he loved.

Charles was a loving father and husband, a steady leader of the family, and someone who was always there when help was needed. Those who knew him will remember his strength, his dependability, and the way he gave of himself to the people closest to him. Family memories include the vacations they shared together during childhood, times that remain treasured and lasting.

Professionally, Charles was an industry leader in the metal building industry. His career took him across the United States as he worked in business development for some of the largest companies in the field. He also shared ownership of Progress Metal Buildings with his lifelong friend Bill St. Clair, a partnership that reflected both his skill and his commitment to the work he loved. Among his proudest accomplishments was completing and shipping the first job from the PMB shop, a milestone that held special meaning for him. Even after retirement, Charles continued supporting the industry by opening his own consulting company.

Charles also served his country as a Sergeant in the Army Reserves from 1958 to 1964, receiving an honorable discharge. His service was another reflection of the discipline, commitment, and sense of responsibility that shaped his life.

Outside of work, Charles had many interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed collecting antique clocks and had a passion for racing cars and boats. He loved watching NASCAR and all types of car racing, and he found happiness in water skiing. He was also a true handyman, someone who could fix or build anything, a talent that surely benefited many over the years and became part of how he cared for others.

He is survived by his daughter, Terri McAdams Svrcek, and Terri’s husband, Steve Svrcek; his sons, Charles Morris McAdams Jr. and John William McAdams; and his daughter-in-law, Rosanna McAdams, wife of Charles Morris McAdams Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan and Lauren McAdams; and by his nephew, Howard Hooks Jr., and Howard’s wife, Melissa Hooks. He leaves behind a family who knew his love, his guidance, and his unwavering presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude McAdams; his mother, Allie Cheatham McAdams; his brother, James McAdams; and his sister, Claudia McAdams Hooks.

A funeral service will be held on October 5, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory, 3001 S College Ave, Bryan, Texas 77801.

Charles of McAdams will be remembered with love and gratitude for the life he lived, the family he led, the work he accomplished, and the many ways he showed up when he was needed most. His memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew him.
