Obituary

Charles W. “Bill” Millikin III passed away peacefully at his home in San Antonio on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He was born February 5, 1944, in Cuero to Mildred McDaniel Millikin and Charles W Millikin, Jr. Growing up in his mother’s hometown of Floresville, Bill and his younger brother Lee enjoyed their many relatives and school activities, especially football and basketball. Bill particularly enjoyed working with his dad at the family’s ranch in Wilson County, building fence and working cattle.

After graduating from Floresville High School, he attended Texas A&M University in College Station, beginning with summer school in Junction. He was elected freshman class president and was a member of the Corps of Cadets his first two years at A&M. He told many stories about the adventures he and his buddies had building the Aggie bonfires and tormenting their upperclassmen with pranks such as setting off “Babbo Bombs” in the dorm. He enlisted in the United States Navy as an officer candidate and upon graduating with a degree in accounting, was commissioned an Ensign. His first duty station was at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Bill married Margaret Brown in College Station in 1967 on his 23rd birthday and they began their life together in Hawaii. Son Michael was born in 1969. Returning to Floresville after his tour ended, Bill joined Lone Star Brewing Company in San Antonio, rising to become Controller and Assistant Treasurer and representing the company in the San Antonio Stock Show in the 1970s and 80s. Daughter Lisa was born in 1971. Bill spent most of his free time outdoors fishing, hunting, gardening, and raising registered Brittany Spaniel bird dogs. After being active in the Naval Reserve for many years, he retired with the rank of Captain in 1989.

After their children finished high school, Bill and Margaret moved in 1990 to Amarillo where over 10 years, he held financial leadership positions at several large companies. He loved fishing and hunting with friends all over the Panhandle as well as hiking in the mountains of New Mexico. After two years as the Chief Financial Officer of a company in Yoakum, making new friends and saltwater fishing off the Gulf Coast, Bill and Margaret moved to San Antonio to live near their daughter Lisa and her growing family. Already a licensed Real Estate Broker, he began a new career in 2002 selling residential real estate in the San Antonio area. He thrived in real estate, later building a rental property management company, which he sold in 2014. He and Margaret were married almost 60 years and enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, decades of bleacher time supporting their children and grandchildren, hosting family gatherings, and playing lots of dominoes, cards and jigsaw puzzles.

Bill is survived by his wife Margaret, son Michael Millikin (Joel Warmolts), daughter Lisa Livingston (Doug), grandchildren Henry Bell, Charles Bell, Baker Livingston (Emma), Blaire Brasher (Briggs), and great-grandchildren Brett Kate, Briar, and Bronx Brasher; brother Lee Millikin (Rebecca); and beloved cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by Margaret’s parents Kathleen and Frank Brown.

A memorial service will be held on August 3 at 10am in the chapel of the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church in San Antonio. Grave side services will be held on August 4 at 10am at the City of College Station Cemetery.

The family appreciates the nursing and caregiving teams at Vitas Hospice and Griswold Home Care for their dedicated support at the end of Bill’s life.
