Clara Mae Burford, a beloved figure to all who knew her, was called to her eternal rest on December 28, 2025, in College Station, Texas. Born on July 12, 1931, in Houston, Texas, Clara lived a life rich with love, devotion, and cherished memories. She leaves behind a legacy that will be carried on by her adoring family and friends.
Clara devoted her life to the art of household engineering, skillfully pampering her husband, raising two wonderful sons, and nurturing the countless grandsons and great-grandsons who adored her. She spent many years working in Cafeteria Services for the Bryan Independent School District, where her fondness for caring for others shone brightly. Clara’s ability to impart life lessons through her thoughtful comments helped shape the character of her family, instilling in them values that will resonate for generations to come.
Her family remembers Clara as a strong Texas woman, someone who expressed her opinions freely, embodying both strength and a vibrant personality. Though petite in stature, she was immense in character, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path. Clara's warmth and kindness were unmatched; she was a beacon of comfort and love, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Clara’s most fulfilling accomplishments were her 61 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Billy Burford, and her cherished role as a mother to her two sons. The bond they shared was a testament to their enduring love and commitment, a relationship filled with laughter, support, and unwavering companionship.
Clara is survived by her devoted sons - Billy Burford and his wife Beverly of Iola, TX; Jerry Burford of Bryan, TX; and their families, including grandsons Jeremy Burford and his wife Susanne of Cypress, TX; Jerry Duane Burford of Three Rivers, TX; and great grandsons Collin Burford and his fiancée Danielle of Bulverde, TX; Ian Burford and his wife Dylaney of Fayetteville, AR; and Dylan Burford of Cypress, TX. She also leaves behind her sister, Irene Kizer of Kingwood, TX, and her dear nephews Terry Kizer and his wife Cindy of Cold Spring, TX; Keith Kizer and his wife Debbie of Big Cove, AL; as well as her brothers-in-law, Harold Burford and his wife Lynda of College Station, TX; Robert Burford and his wife Doris of Houston, TX.
Clara was entrusted to Luminos Hospice Care following a tragic fall in 2024, during which she received compassionate care from John, Kelley, Kamron, and the rest of the exemplary staff, who made her final days comfortable and dignified.
Clara is preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy Burford; her mother Alma Clark; her father Hall Clark; her sister, Naomi Ford; and Bingle, all of whom she holds dearly in her heart now and forevermore.
Clara Mae Burford’s spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched throughout her journey on this earth. Her legacy of love, strength, and determination will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
