Clayton "Blue" Joseph Myers

Clayton Joseph "Blue" Myers, born on October 4, 1937, in Sulphur, Louisiana, was a remarkable man who touched the lives of many before peacefully passing away on December 23, 2025, in College Station, Texas. His journey through life was filled with accomplishments, cherished moments, and a profound impact on his community.

A proud veteran, Clayton joined the United States Marine Corps in 1955, moving to full enrollment in 1961. He served with honor, completing two tours in Vietnam, where he earned two Purple Hearts and was recognized as a rifle sharpshooter and pistol expert, retiring with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in 1972. His proudest accomplishments also included his time on the Atsugi Flyers football team in Japan and summiting Mt. Fuji twice, showcasing his adventurous spirit.

Clayton's professional career began after his military service when he was employed as a research assistant at the Veterinary Toxicology and Entomology Lab in College Station, a position he held for 32 years. Throughout his career, he remained deeply committed to his community, serving on the CISD school board, leading the Lions Club as president for several years, and being an active member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committee for Burleson County, as well as the Burleson County Fair Board.

Known for his infectious positive attitude and unending joy, Clayton was very social and never met a stranger. He loved gathering family and friends to celebrate holidays and enjoy football games together. One of the favorite memories shared by those close to him is watching him indulge in Blue Bell ice cream straight from the carton on the front porch, a testament to his simple pleasures and zest for life.

Clayton was married to his beloved wife of 69 and a half years, Barbara (Gardemal ) Myers, and he took great pride in their only child, daughter Andrea Myers. His love for his family was evident in everything he did. He cherished working outside at the family farm, often concluding his days with meaningful conversations around the fire pit.

In his leisure time, Clayton enjoyed fly fishing, playing poker with friends, and savoring peanut butter whiskey, always accompanied by his beloved dogs, Taco and Rico. His legacy of warmth, friendship, and community service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Clayton is preceded in death by his father, Clayton Myers Sr., his mother, Hazel Jacobs, and his brother, Robert Ray Myers. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forward with gratitude and respect.
