Conrad Dexter Machan

Place of Birth: Chriesman, Texas – March the 26th, 1943

Death: Bryan Texas (St. Joseph Hospital) September the 28th, 2025

He is survived by Charlotte Lee Machan, his beautiful wife of 62 and half years. His daughter’s Kelley Hamlin (Marc) and Shelley Duge (Kyle), His precious grandchildren Jarrod Hamlin (Megan), Katye Kalinec (Lucas), Wesley Mangan (Lauren), Kyle Mangan (Morgan), Mase Duge (Jillian) and Molly Goff (Brian), and 11 Great Grandchildren and one on the way.

He was fondly called Poppy by his grandchildren and many many others who loved him dearly and will have him in their heart forever.

He was proceeded in death by his beloved parents, John Thomas Machan and Augusta Ellen Machan, his Sisters and Brother Joyce Lard, Hancel Cochran, Dottie Ferreri and Brother Donald Machan and nephew - Larry Ferreri.

He married the love of his life Charlotte Elizabeth Machan at the age of 19 and they were married for almost 63 years. They did everything together and raised 2 daughters Kelley and Shelley, whom he gave the most perfect childhood and always loved unconditionally.

One of his first jobs was at the Nuclear Science Center at Texas A&M. From there in 1962 he spent the next 27 years at Moore Supply Plumbing Company as their Salesperson that would travel around to different counties making calls while creating lasting friendships to all he sold too. Upon leaving Moore Supply, he then went to his final job at the Brazos County Jail where he was the head of the jail commissary for 17 years where he retired.

His love for God and family was the most important. He spent much of his life at the Cavitt Street Church of Christ where he taught class and served as Deacon for 1980-1996.

Daddy was our rock, the man who shaped our lives. He was a good listener, sometimes with advice and sometimes just listened. He could just give a look and make everything okay. He had the best hugs that could fix anything, and “an I love you”. He loved everyone and always made us laugh. He always taught us kindness, caring, sharing, giving to help others and most important God first. His love for God and his love for our family was precious. His love extended way beyond family. He had a gift for making everyone feel loved. He was Poppy to so many. He had so much grace throughout his illnesses and handling his setbacks was humbling. He was always supportive of us all, us kids, the grand kids and the great grand kids. From working cows, singing events, fishing and watching all sport activities. He loved family gatherings and the holidays he shared. Especially, Elvis Christmas music around the tree was his favorite.

His most favorite past time early on was raising animals from the wild. He had crows, racoons, deer and a special one named Sniffles. He loved his cows (he had one born the day after his passing) gardening, vacations, especially Colorado where he spent most summers with his family.

His sweet smile, loving hugs and the “I love you’ s” will be greatly missed. We will always cherish our memories, and you will remain in our hearts forever!

Meet you in Heaven.
