Daniel grew up in Arroyo Seco, New Mexico, where he lived and was raised by his mother (Betty Cox Cardenas) and grandparents (Felix and Mary Cardenas). During those early years, he was surrounded by his uncles and aunt—Ramon, Ricky, Nick, and Martha—whom he loved deeply and considered as brothers and sister.
As a young boy, before coming to know the Lord, Daniel struggled with alcohol. But through the influence and friendship of Elias, Eliseo, and Ernest, he was introduced to faith. Their guidance helped lead him to a life-changing decision, and at the age of 14, Daniel was baptized.
By the age of 16, he began to feel the calling and anointing to preach the Gospel. At just 21 years old, he became a pastor of a small United Pentecostal church in New Mexico. Through street ministry and his dedication to sharing God’s Word, he led many to the Lord.
Years later, Daniel felt called to continue his ministry in Texas, where he faithfully served for decades. He became known for praying over handkerchiefs weeks in advance, anointing them, and then distributing them during conferences and church services as he felt led. Throughout his 49 years of ministry, he had the opportunity to preach internationally and witnessed many miracles along the way.
Beyond his ministry, Daniel was a devoted father. He made it a priority to teach his children the Word of God, to pray with them, and to hold Bible studies in the home. He ministered to his family with the same love and commitment he showed to his church. He also worked diligently to provide for his family, ensuring their needs were always met.
Through his life, Daniel demonstrated what it means to live with integrity, discipline, forgiveness, and love. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, both within his family and far beyond.
