IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene
Brown
April 2, 1947 – February 14, 2026
Celebration of Life
First Baptist Church - College Station
11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Central time)
Darlene Brown passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the age of 78, at St. Joseph Hospital in College Station, in the care of Enhabit Hospice.
She was born on April 2, 1947, in Waco, Texas to Bessie Viola Allen and Rochel Alford Ingram, the sixth of seven children. She spent her early childhood in Axtell, Texas before her family moved to Bellmead, Texas.
At the age of 14, Darlene gave her life to Christ. Her love for Jesus was evident throughout her life in the way she loved her family and friends and through her true servant’s heart.
Darlene graduated from La Vega High School in 1965. In 1972, she moved her family to Bryan, where she raised her two children, Sheila and Eric. It was during her time working at Dairy Queen in downtown Bryan that she met her best friend, Rosie — a friendship she cherished for many years.
She began her professional career at a local printing company in downtown Bryan and would eventually move on to work for Texas A&M University, where she served as secretary to the Head of the Physics Department. Darlene dedicated 27 years of faithful service to Texas A&M before retiring in 2002.
In her retirement years, Darlene treasured time with her family. She enjoyed traveling with her sister, spending time with her grandchildren and family, volunteering, and attending women’s Aggie basketball games — proudly cheering on her beloved Aggies as a season ticket holder for many years.
Known lovingly as “Mimi,” Darlene was a devoted grandmother. She adored her boys and was a steady, loving presence in their lives — babysitting, vacationing, and faithfully cheering them on in all their endeavors.
Darlene was instrumental in the start of The Bridge Ministries in Bryan. She volunteered faithfully in the office, the food pantry, and the Billy Graham phone center, and she supported her daughter-in-law Tiffany in whatever way was needed. She also served in the library and nursery at First Baptist Church College Station, where she built many meaningful friendships through women’s events and Sunday School.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Rochel and Bessie Ingram; her brothers and their spouses, Junior Ingram (Alice), Donald Ingram and Ronald Ingram (Janette); and one brother-in-law, Jyles (JD) Garrett.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sheila Brown; her son, Eric Brown, and his wife, Tiffany; her grandsons, Noah and Jacob Brown; her siblings, Bill Ingram and wife Louise, Danny Ingram, and Judy Garrett; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church College Station.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.Matthew 25:23
