Delmer Edward
Balusek
Feb 15, 1932 — Jul 1, 2026
Delmer Edward Balusek, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026. He has now crossed over to be with his Lord and savior.
Born February 15, 1932, Delmer, known as “Pops” by many, lived a life defined by strength, dedication, and love for his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Thomas, in Oct 1952. Delmer proudly served in the United States Air Force and held his service in the highest honor throughout his life. Following his military service, he earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas. He went on to build a strong and admirable career, dedicating over 17 years to Southern Pacific Railroad before continuing his career with the Texas Department of State Health Services in the Water Services Division, where he later retired.
In his retirement, Pops found great joy and peace on his property alongside his beloved wife. He spent his days tending to vegetables, flowers, and pecan trees, and took pleasure in watching birds and deer and driving his tractor. Above all, he treasured time with his family. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren, who held a very special place in his heart. He loved and admired them deeply.
Delmer was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Frances; his brother, Elton; his sister, Gladys; and his beloved wife, Dorothy.
He is survived by his loving family: his son Dennis(Cindy); his son Duane(Lori) and his cherished grandchildren, Connie (Andrew Couch), Curtis, Trevor (Cynthia), Austin, and Ryan.
Delmer will be remembered as a good man—strong, devoted, with a witty sense of humor, and always willing to support a neighbor. His legacy of hard work, love for family, and appreciation for life’s simple blessings will live on in all who knew and loved him.
