Dorothy Jean
Davis
June 20, 1945 – February 24, 2026
Dorothy Jean Davis, beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, departed this world peacefully on February 24, 2026, in College Station, Texas. Born on June 20, 1945, in Bryan, Texas, Dorothy dedicated her life to her family, friends, and community with unwavering loyalty and devotion.
Dorothy's career as an accountant in the construction business was marked by her diligence and exceptional work ethic. A proud graduate of Bryan High School in 1963, she further pursued her education at the University of Houston, obtaining her B.B.A. in Accounting while juggling the responsibilities of work and nurturing her family. Her sons, Grayum Lee Davis and Randal Lloyd Davis, were the center of her universe, and her love for them was evident in every aspect of her life. She was also fortunate to welcome a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ann Branch, into her family, who brought additional joy and warmth to the family dynamics.
Dorothy was a graceful and kind soul, renowned for her considerate nature. She always made it a priority to spend quality time with her family, cultivating precious memories that will be cherished forever. Her ability to navigate relationships and maintain peace among friends and family showcased her gentle spirit and loving heart. Through her actions, she taught those around her the true meaning of loyalty and dedication, fostering bonds that would stand the test of time.
In her personal life, Dorothy had an innate talent for nurturing. She found joy in gardening, where her green thumb allowed her to foster a vibrant array of trees, plants, and flowers. The simple act of caring for her garden brought her immense happiness, just as she took pleasure in her passions for horses and dogs, which seemed to gravitate towards her warmth and kindness. Cooking and sewing were other avenues through which Dorothy expressed her love, creating meals and treasures for friends and family alike.
Her accomplishments extended beyond her professional and domestic endeavors. Dorothy proudly remembered the humility with which she lived her life, deeply connected to her creator. At just fourteen years old, she shot the largest white tail buck deer in the family, a testament to her adventurous spirit and connection to the land she cherished.
Dorothy's life was also marked by her marriage to Grayum Lloyd Davis, a union grounded in love and mutual respect. Grayum’s four years of service as a Lieutenant in the military highlighted the family's commitment to one another and their country. As Dorothy navigated the ups and downs of life, she remained steadfast, embodying the principles of grace and kindness that defined her character.
She is now survived by her sons, Grayum Lee Davis and Randal Lloyd Davis, her daughter-in-law Bonnie Ann Branch, Bonnie's mother and father Tom and Kathy Branch, her brothers Bobby Carter and his wife Sarah Carter, and Billy Carter and his wife Deborah Carter. Her extended family includes her niece Christie Carter, nephew Cam Nutt, nieces Stephanie Richardson and Melanie Waltz, nephews David Richardson and Reid Waltz, as well as niece and nephew Susan Carter Hoffer and David Hoffer. Cousins Kenneth and Carla Kent also share in the fond memories of Dorothy’s love and kindness.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered at a graveside service on March 7, 2026, at Reliance Cemetery in Bryan, Texas. There will be a Celebration of Life to follow at Messina Hof Winery on the back patio of the tasting room. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the beautiful life of a truly remarkable woman who touched many lives with her warmth and selflessness.
