Earl was a devoted educator, holding both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Education from Texas A&M University. His passion for shaping young minds was evident throughout his teaching career, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Earl was a cherished member of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Kay Souares Pullen, who stood by his side throughout their journey together. Earl was known for his variety of hobbies and interests that reflected both his creativity and inquisitive nature. He enjoyed creating land and cityscapes for his model train set and was an avid World War II history buff, indulging in literature and films regarding the era. Among his treasured collections were books on Rommel, first and second editions of the Hardy Boys series, and Santa Clauses that adorned his Christmas tree each year. He had a particular fondness for lighthouses and took great delight in feeding the birds in his backyard. His enthusiasm for college football, especially Texas A&M games, was infectious, often entertaining those around him with his passion.

Earl's love for animals was exemplified by his affection for cats, and he shared a special bond with a pet parakeet named Augie, who would chirp excitedly during football games, encouraged by Earl to “yell at the referee.” His involvement in the community was notable; during his years at Allen Academy, he took on the role of public address announcer for football games, a testament to his spirit and dedication to his students.
