Edward Gibson

November 26, 1948 — July 21, 2025

Edward pursued his education diligently, earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Morris Harvey College in 1970. He spent a significant portion of his career working with disability determination services for the State of West Virginia, where he made a positive impact on countless lives.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Edward was known for his rich array of interests and hobbies. He had a true passion for collecting stamps and coins, as well as delving into genealogy, which connected him to his roots and family history. Edward also had a keen appreciation for classic cars—his pride and joy—and cherished memories were made during family beach vacations.

He will be remembered not only for his love of collecting but also for his adventurous spirit. Edward treasured taking his grandchildren, Mason Scott Gibson and Mollie J. Gibson, on new adventures, creating lasting memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Gibson, and their children: daughter Kara Gibson Barbaria and her husband Richard, son Brian Scott Gibson and sister in law Nancy Gibson. He shared a special bond with his nephews Theodore Gibson III and his wife Krista, and Edgar Buster II, as well as his nieces Shannon Gibson, Lori Gibson and her husband Jason, and Gretchen Surbaugh and her husband Thomas.

He is preceded in death by his father Theodore Sr., mother Madeline Hall Baldwin, brother Theodore "Ted" Gibson Jr., and sister Sue Ellen Buster. Edward’s family and friends will carry his memory forward, honoring the joy and love he brought into their lives. His kindness and enthusiasm for life will be missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
