Elizabeth passed peacefully to the Lord on September 9, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth House, her husband, Bill, her son, William and daughter-in-law, Kathy.

Elizabeth was born in Carteret County, Beaufort, North Carolina. She was the youngest of four siblings: brothers, Joseph and Hendricks, and sister, Letitia. Elizabeth was baptized at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and remained an active Episcopalian for the remainder of her life.

Elizabeth was known as “Baby” House growing up in Beaufort. She graduated from Beaufort High School in 1952 and was active playing basketball and singing in the school choir. She had a lifelong love for the game of Bridge, and was adamant in letting you know that she was from “God’s Country” (North Carolina).

Elizabeth was wed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on August 11, 1954 to William Edward Ward III of Salem, Ohio. They remained happily married for 69 years.

Elizabeth was beloved by her five children, William, Pamela, John, Joe, and Ashley. She worked as a housewife while serving as an Air Force officer’s wife for the first twenty years of her marriage. Elizabeth later became employed as an interior decorator - a job that she excelled at so well that she eventually went into business for herself.

In 1975, Bill retired from the Air Force, and the family moved to Bryan, Texas. Elizabeth continued to be the supportive spouse that she had always been, as her husband launched a new career at Texas A & M University’s newly created medical school. Her love for her husband, Bill, was truly unconditional and most notably the greatest virtue that she instilled upon her children.

Elizabeth touched the lives of so many people around her, and was one of the most giving women that one could be - always putting others before herself. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church (Bryan) for 48 years and served on the Altar Guild and with the Episcopal Church Women.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Pamela Huston (Brian), sons, John Ward (Susan), Joseph Ward (Manuela), and Ashley Ward (HM). She was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.

Services will be Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 217 W. 26th St., Bryan, Texas.
