Francyse Amanda Parker, affectionately known as “Fran,” passed away peacefully in Bryan, Texas, surrounded by her loving family and loved ones.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Fran was a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and began her career as an elementary school teacher in Lake Charles. Her heart for teaching touched generations of young lives. Fran was the devoted mother of Dennis Parker (Angie), Suzie Van (Ricky), Tim Parker (Suzanne), Steve Parker, and Nicole Parker. She was the beloved grandmother of Jaimie Parker, Kindel Leohr, Cassie Parker, Kayla Parker, and Tommy Parker, and great-grandmother to Ainsley, Faith, Bodie, and Ava.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two true soul mates—Captain James Kindel, who gave his life in defense of our country, and Lt. Col. Brian Thomas Parker, who also dedicated his career to military service.
Fran had a unique gift for making others feel at home. She adored spending time with her grandchildren—telling stories, helping with schoolwork, laughing, and lying outside picking out animals and shapes in the clouds. These moments were the joy of her life.
She supported her family’s love of showing quarter horses and paints, and while living abroad at Lakenheath Air Force Base in Europe, she pursued her passion for brass rubbing and volunteered at the New Arrivals store, warmly welcoming airmen and their families.
Fran was a proud speaker at veteran events and an active member of the American Legion Post 159. Known for her ever-present smile, she made sure that no one stayed a stranger for long once they entered her home.
She is also survived by her beloved fur babies: Clyde, Jacquie, June, Nancy, Reba, and her cat Angel. Fran’s love, light, and laughter will live on through every life she touched.
A Celebration of Fran’s life will be held at a later date. Interment will be at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aggieland Humane Society (https://aggielandhumane.org/) in her memory.
