Iva Lee Lynch, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in College Station, Texas, surrounded by her beloved family at the age of 87. Born on August 31, 1938, in Austin, Texas, Iva lived a life full of love, dedication, and vibrant energy that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her remarkable journey, Iva exemplified resilience and strength. She kicked off her career as a waitress, a job that showcased her friendly demeanor and ability to connect with others. Her commitment to hard work led her to manage an apartment complex in Uvalde and later to serve at Texas A&M, where she worked for the Corps of Cadets issuing military uniforms. Additionally, Iva expanded her horizons with her role at the Thrifty Nickle, delivering papers with grace and determination.
Iva's spirit of fun and love for dancing were legendary among her family and friends. She brought joy to every gathering with her lively moves and infectious laughter. Those who remember her fondly often reflect on warm memories of watching her dance and the countless ways she cared for her family. She frequently reminded them with a loving, yet firm, declaration: "this house better be clean when I get home," a testament to her dedication to maintaining a nurturing home.
One of Iva's proudest achievements was raising her four sons on her own, showing them an unwavering example of love and perseverance. Years later, fate intervened, and Iva rekindled her love with Leslie “ Gene “ Lynch, her storybook romance blossoming anew. Their engagement at Sandy's Hamburger Stand, the same cherished spot where he first proposed, and their wedding at the same church as before, beautifully epitomized their enduring bond.
Iva is survived by her loving sons, Mark Eugene Lynch and wife Loretta, James Enoch Lynch, and Ricky Lynn Lynch. She leaves behind a legacy as a devoted sister to Linda Mushinski, as well as a proud grandmother to Sabrina Lynch, Samantha Lee, Jonathan Lynch, and Charleen Lynch. Her heart swells with love for her great-grandchildren, including Tyler, Brianna, Caleb, Charlie, Jorja and her 3 great-great-grandchildren, who carry forward her cherished spirit.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie Eugene Lynch, her son Ted Leroy Lynch, her parents Novella Iva Malicoat and Roy Lee Malicoat, her brother Kenneth Earl Malicoat, her sister Betty Loraine Goodrich, and her daughters-in-law Linda Lynch and Gina Lynch.
A visitation for Iva will be held on February 13, 2026, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan, Texas, beginning at 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM. Iva Lee Lynch will be remembered as a dedicated worker, a loving mother, and a spirited soul who lit up every room she entered. Her legacy, marked by her love for family, passion for dancing, and devotion to life, will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
