Jay Bradley Cole of Bryan, Texas died August 7, 2025 due to complications related to heart disease and myasthenia gravis.
Jay was born on December 4, 1958 in Riverside, California to Charles Windell Cole and Joannie Ruth (Brown) Cole. He had three siblings: a sister Dona, a brother Charles, and a sister Gail. Jay’s father was a U. S. Air Force pilot assigned to March AFB in Riverside when Jay was born. Dona and brother Charles were born prior in Merced, California and Riverside, respectively. Jay’s father was next stationed in Upper Heyford, England during the early 1960s. When the family returned to the States, a fourth child, Gail was born in Blytheville, Arkansas. The family also lived in Dover, Delaware and in New Jersey near McGuire AFB.
Jay’s father retired from the Air Force in 1970 and the family settled in Austin. Jay attended porter Junior High School and Crockett High School in south Austin. It was there that Jay played the cornet in the Crockett Band.
In 1975, Jay graduated from Crockett and began working as an auto mechanic. He worked at Covert Buick in Austin and other car service/repairs businesses as well. He began working at the law offices of Kidd, Whitehurst, Harkness, and Watson in 1999 and was employed there for over 20 years.
In 2022, Jay moved onto the family property in Bryan. Jay was known for his generosity and sense of humor, always willing to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. He took pride in caring for his cattle and found peace in working the land.
Jay was married to Robin Cook nee Jorgensen on December 7, 1982. Robin passed on August 30, 1998. Jay is survived by his stepsons Crockett Jorgensen, David Jorgensen and his wife Amy and their children Jessica, Laura, Tonya, Julia, Jeffery, David, Joseph, Ella, Kayla, Nathan, Alexander, Victoria, and Cassandra, as well as David’s and Amy’s nine grandchildren. Additionally, Jay is survived by Jeannette Marie Jorgensen and her children Felicia Torres, Layla Medina, Devin Jorgensen and Chloe Paez.
Jay is survived by his sister Dona and brother-in-law James Marshall in Richardson, Texas, sister Gail and brother-in-law Dawight Gunter in Kyle, Texas, niece Nicole Gunter, nephew David Gunter and David’s wife, Elizabeth. Also, Jay is survived by stepbrothers Steven Anderson, Carl and wife Elaine Anderson in San Marcos, and stepsisters Teresa in Austin and Cindy and husband Mark in Lancaster, California.
