Joe David Bowden, born on September 11, 1941, in Bonham, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, in College Station, Texas. He was a cherished husband, a devoted family member, and a man whose passions painted the landscape of his life.
Growing up in Bonham, Texas, Joe was a proud graduate of the class of 1959. His journey continued through service in the United States Marine Corps, where he displayed great honor and dedication. Following his military service, he found his calling in the vibrant world of sales, spending many fruitful years with Deen Meat Company in Fort Worth, Texas.
Horseback riding was not just a pastime for Joe; it was a devotion that blossomed around 1975 with the acquisition of his first horse. This singular passion burgeoned into a profound love for horses and their care, culminating in the purchase of property where he could fully embrace the joy of riding and breeding mares. Joe’s commitment to this pursuit was highlighted by his spirited ventures into cutting horse competitions, showcasing the results of his dedication and deep connection with these majestic animals.
An indelible part of Joe's spirit was his love for animals of all kinds, especially his beloved dogs and cats. These companions brought him immeasurable joy and comfort throughout the chapters of his life, embodying his gentle heart and the warmth he exuded to all living creatures.
A dedicated member of his community, Joe attended New Hope Baptist Church in Boyd, Texas, where he engaged wholeheartedly in church activities, particularly the food pantry—a ministry that resonated deeply with him. His service to others was a testament to his kindness and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around him.
Joe leaves behind his beloved wife, Rose Bowden, who stood by him through life’s many journeys. He is also survived by his brother, Tim Bowden, along with sister-in-laws Lousie Mynar and Diane Weber, and brothers-in-law Sam Piccolo and James Piccolo, as well as many nieces and nephews who will carry forth his legacy of love.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Houston Hilton Bowden and Joyce Potter Bowden, as well as his brother, Don Hilton Bowden. Their memories will forever be woven into the fabric of Joe's heart.
