Joseph Kenneth Tinsley, affectionately known as Kenny, departed from this world on June 28, 2025, at the age of 79 in Texas City, Texas. Born on December 27, 1945, in Houston, TX, Kenny was a man whose life was woven with charisma, humor, and an unwavering faith that guided his every step.
A proud graduate of Milby High School, Kenny honed his skills as a craftsman and spent many fulfilling years as a finishing trim carpenter for Jack Boyd Homes. His dedication to his craft exemplified the care and attention to detail that mirrored his approach to life itself.
Beyond his professional life, Kenny found great joy in the company of his family and friends, often spending treasured moments at the lake house in Crockett. Fishing, hunting, and golfing were just a few of his passions, and there was never a dull moment with him around. His infectious laughter and quick wit brought smiles to all, as he shared jokes and made up songs that would echo in the hearts of those who gathered near him. A gifted storyteller, Kenny had the remarkable ability to transform even the simplest gatherings into unforgettable experiences.
Kenny's strong Christian faith served as the cornerstone of his life, guiding him through challenges and enriching his relationships with those around him. He had a particular fondness for spending time with his beloved granddogs, whose antics and companionship added joy to his days.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Mary Beth Collins of Houston, TX; daughters, Tracy Kerr and her husband Bill of Santa Fe, NM, Mary Tinsley and her husband John Gardner of Santa Fe, TX, and Sarah Hibbs and her husband Jason of Splendora, TX; a son, Kenny Tinsley of Austin, TX; and a myriad of close friends and extended family who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Kenny is preceded in death by his loving wife of 26 years, Jeanne Tinsley; his mother, Mary Lillian Tinsley; and his brothers, Bill, Lester, and Don Tinsley. The warmth of his spirit and the love he shared will undoubtedly resonate for years to come.
A memorial service to honor Kenny’s life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 1 PM at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home, located at 3001 S. College Avenue in Bryan. Following the service, guests are invited to join a reception in celebration of his life. Kenny will find his final resting place during an inurnment at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Bryan, Texas, where those who loved him can visit and remember the extraordinary man he was.
He will truly be missed, but the memories he created and the love he imparted will forever remain a part of all who knew him. The Tinsley family would especially like to thank the staff of Sodalis Texas City for the loving care and attention they showed Kenny in his time there.
