Joyce Evelyn Leighman

Joyce Evelyn Leighman, 77, of Bryan, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Joyce was born on December 28, 1947 in Houston, Texas. She grew up in Houston and graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School. She went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she received a teaching degree.

In December of 1970 Joyce married Dale Leighman, they were married 17 years. They had two children, Cole Leighman and Amanda (Leighman) Regmund, who they raised in Bryan, Texas.

Joyce taught public school for 33 years. She taught in various towns until she finally settled in Bryan, Texas. She taught the majority of her career at Stephen F. Austin Middle School as a homemaking teacher.

Joyce had a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. She had a calm and loving nature about her that would make you feel calm and safe. She enjoyed plating flowers, antique shopping, crafting, and spending time with family and friends. She was always willing to help those in need and do things for her family.

Joyce had three grandchildren. Dawson Leighman, Makenzie Regmund and Whitney Regmund. They were the light of her life.

A private graveside service for the immediate family will take place on Tuesday September 9, 2025.
