Junny Ivison, a devoted husband, loving Dad and Papa, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Hilltop Lakes, Texas, on September 18, 2025. With a firm faith in God through Jesus Christ, Junny passed from this part of life into eternity with his wife, Carolyn, and son, Jayme, by his side.
Born at home in Snyder, Texas, on March 24, 1942, Junny was the youngest of seven children born to Ira Tom and Adron Ivison. Growing up with five older brothers and one older sister, he was raised in and around the family’s mechanic shop, where he learned the value of hard work and the joy of fixing things with his hands. Alongside ingenious mechanical know-how, Junny also inherited a love for music that he would later pass along to his son.
On March 26, 1965, Junny married the love of his life, Carolyn, beginning a beautiful and steadfast journey of 60 years together. They settled first in Arlington, Texas, where they welcomed three children: Jeri, Jayme, and Amy. Junny’s deep commitment to his family and his unwavering work ethic paired well with Carolyn’s passion for serving and nurturing — thus shaping the warm home and enduring legacy they built together.
In 1980, the Ivison family moved to Fairfield, Texas, where Junny began a 20-year career with Nucor Steel. There he forged strong professional relationships and lifelong friendships—most notably with his dear friend, Sunshine. From 1962 to 1988, Junny also served in the U.S. Army National Guard, earning the respect and admiration of those he served alongside. Whether on a job or off, Junny was known for his unceasing humor, good attitude, strong work ethic, and the deep loyalty he showed to those he loved and worked alongside.
Later in life, as two of their children attended Texas A&M University, Junny and Carolyn relocated to Bryan, Texas, eventually settling into a loving and supportive community in Hilltop Lakes.
Junny is preceded in death by his beloved daughters, Jeri (2003) and Amy (2024); grandson Klein (2009); his five brothers; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn; his son, Jayme; daughter-in-law, Stephanie; his eight grandchildren; and his sister, Oma.
He will be remembered for his generous humor, kind heart, love of family, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the stories (and jokes)shared, the prayers prayed, the music played, and the hearts he forever touched.
