Obituary

Kathy (Jones) Adkins, of Hilltop Lakes, Texas, passed away peacefully and entered her heavenly home on June 1, 2026, surrounded by her family after a courageous ten-year battle with cancer.

Born on November 1, 1955, in Odessa, Texas, to E.H. and Wanda Jones, Kathy lived a life anchored by family and adventure. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bobby; her children, Shawna McDermott and her husband, Chris, of College Station, and Dustin Adkins and his wife, Catherine, of Conroe; and her six grandchildren, who brought her immense joy: Taylor, Peyton, Mason, Kyra, Olivia, and Mia. She also leaves behind her brother, Tony Jones (Vicki); her sisters, Terry Watson, Teresa Jones, Linda Tayrien, and Tasha Shirley (Jimmy); and a large, loving extended family of aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Professionally, Kathy served for many years as the Executive Secretary to the Superintendent of College Station ISD. She later brought her talents to Baker Hughes as a billing specialist in both Denver, Colorado, and Midland, Texas. Upon retiring, she embraced the joy of travel, fully supporting her husband in his career and seeing the world by his side.

Kathy was a deeply devoted wife, mother, grandma, memaw, sister, and aunt. She had a gift for bringing people together, whether she was playing games with the kids or competing with the adults. She and Bobby shared a beautiful life full of adventures, from golfing, bowling, and snow skiing to cruising, camping, and exploring the country.

Known for a radiant smile and contagious laughter that could light up any room, Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be on June 27, 2026 at Hilltop Lakes Community Center.
