Kathy Lynne Wortman

Kathy Lynne Wortman, 76, passed away peacefully, with family, on April 14, 2025

Kathy was born on March 9, 1949, in Madison, Wisconsin to John and Janice Cable. She married Mike Wortman in 1972, in Illinois and they moved to Bryan in 1980.

Kathy was a speech and language pathologist for Bryan ISD for around 30 years before she retired in 2010. At that time, she started her role as “Grammy” full time, which quickly became her favorite!!

Her family was so very important to her.

The only thing she loved as much as her grandkids was Texas Aggie Baseball! If there was a home game, no matter the weather, you could find her in her seat!!

When she arrived to the gates of heaven, she was reunited with her parents, and Mike, her husband of 51 years, that she missed dearly in the short time he was there without her.

Those who remain to cherish her memory include her daughter Sara Wortman Daw and her children Bailey and Landon; daughter Abbie Wortman Gilmore and husband Jonathan and their children, Emma, Phillip, and McKayla; son Jacob Wortman and his wife, Mallory and their children, Sutton and Hudson; her 4 legged “child” and best friend, Sophie; her sister Janet, in Tennessee; her sister-in-law, Barbara Wortman, in Louisiana, and other relatives and friends.

Kathy’s family would like to extend tremendous gratitude to the staff of Luminos Hospice, Gwen and Alicia, and others from Visiting Angels, and Claudia Massie for loving Kathy and providing stellar carein her final days.

A celebration of life is planned for Monday April 28, 2025, from 5pm-7pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 3001 S college Avenue, Bryan Tx. Express condolences at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory | Bryan, TX
