Lena Levon Owens Hayes, 84 of Navasota, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at her home with her family.
A gathering of family and friends for a graveside service will be held at 11:00am Friday, October 9, 2026 at College Station City Cemetery next to Alton Ray Hayes Sr. The Rev Paul Curtis will officiate.
Lena was born December 17, 1941 in Bryan, Texas to William “Reb” Owens and Alois Battles Owens Lovelis. Lena married Alton Ray Hayes Sr. on October 24, 1961. Lena was a stay-at-home mom for her children and grandchildren. Later in life she worked in Food Service at local schools until she retired. Lena loved to sew, especially quilts. One year she sewed quilts all year so she could give each grandchild a quilt for Christmas. Other things she enjoyed was canning vegetables and fruit, reading, and watching westerns.
Lena was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Billy Owens and Leo Owens, sister Betty Wager, brother-in-law Rodrick Hayes, and sister- in-law Nancy Feaster.
Survivors include sons Audie Ray Hayes Sr., wife Jackie, Thomas Ed Hayes, wife Beverly of Navasota, Alton Ray Hayes Jr., wife Debbie of Conroe, Scott Allen Hayes, wife Patricia of Kennesaw, Georgia and Vonda Ree Hayes Bob, husband Al of Caldwell.
Grandchildren Audie, Johnnie, David, Angel, Ashley and Joshua Hayes, Trevor and Travis Hayes and Jesse Busa, Trey Hayes and Kristin Pinon, Kaitlyn Stone and Patrick Hayes and Megan Blanchard and Eric Bob.
Sister-in-law Shelly Greer, sisters Shirley Mills, Wanda Cooley, Aileen Owens, and brother Gerald Owens.
Serving as Pallbearers are her grandsons Trevor Thomas Hayes, Travis Brosig Hayes, Alton “Trey” Hayes, Audie Ray Hayes, David Allen Hayes, and Joshua Arron Hayes.
The Family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Shelly Small for providing loving care for Lena in her last years.
