Marie
Boellstorff
November 1, 1932 – January 15, 2026
Marie Katharine (Kramer) Boellstorff passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on January 15, 2026 at the Sodalis Senior Living Center in College Station, Texas. Born November 1, 1932 to Peter Kramer, Jr. and Mollie (Wegelin) Kramer in Gering, Nebraska, she was the third of five children. She grew up on the family farm.
Marie graduated from Minatare High School, Nebraska in 1950 and then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois where she received a teacher’s diploma from the Evangelical Teacher Training Association in 1955. She completed additional training at the University of Nebraska to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1957. A Master of Education degree was conferred by the University of Nebraska in 1973.
She married James Boellstorff on August 10, 1957 and they had three daughters. Marie taught at Brock High School and the consolidated Johnson-Brock High School. She and her husband also farmed until Jim began attending the University of Nebraska to study electrical engineering. When Jim graduated in 1975, the family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where Marie worked in a law office until accepting a teaching position with Marshalltown Community College where she taught until her retirement. Marie and Jim stayed in Marshalltown and hosted many family gatherings before moving to College Station, Texas in 2014.
The family, and especially her beloved Jim, were the focus of Marie’s life. When family members called, they could hear the smile in her voice and knew she was happy to be in touch with them. She had a special interest in the extended family and was instrumental in bringing together a family line that stretched across Germany, Russia and the United States.
Marie will be missed by sister Wilma (Kramer) Nelson, brother Arnold Kramer, brothers-in-law Daniel and John Boellstorff, daughters Diane (Miguel Mora) Boellstorff, Margaret (Rick) Carter, Ann (Donald) Boellstorff-Williams; grandchildren Ellis, James, Elena, Matthew, David and Nathan, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband James Cyrus Boellstorff; parents, Peter Kramer, Jr. and Mollie (Wegelin) Kramer; brothers Norman and Werner Kramer; parents-in-law Charles and Ruth (Richardson) Boellstorff, brothers-in-law Vaughn Nelson, Douglas Boellstorff, David Napier, and sisters-in-law Fran (Boellstorff) Napier, Rhonda (Van Boening) Kramer, Marjorie (Deckert) Kramer, Betty (Kissler) Kramer, Bette (Klaasmeyer) Boellstorff and Kay (Tucker) Boellstorff.
Following Marie’s wishes, no services are planned. Her ashes will be interred alongside those of her husband at Grant Evergreen Cemetery near Talmage, Nebraska. The family gratefully declines flowers and donations, but prayers, condolences and memories are warmly accepted.
