Mary Catherine “Cathy” Sharp passed peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, June 24th, 2026 surrounded by family and friends at the age of 59 years old. She was born to William Larry and Mary Earlice Boyd on August 23, 1966 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, joining her big sister, Beth. As a military family, the Boyds found home in many places, eventually settling in Copperas Cove, Texas for many decades. Cathy was a proud Bulldog who graduated in 1984, was active in FFA, 4H, livestock showing, and cheerleading. She made lifelong friends she loved visiting well into her adult life.

Cathy was a proud mother. She welcomed Catherine Nicole in 1990. She met the love of her life, Paul Sharp, along with his two children, Cari and Stephen. The Sharp family soon welcomed William and Amber as the two youngest. Cathy spent most of her free time enjoying her children’s extracurricular activities and cheering them on. She was a lifelong student, eventually graduating from Mary Hardin Baylor and obtaining her teaching certification. The Sharps moved to Bryan, Texas where Cathy’s servant heart led her to teach at multiple Bryan ISD schools. Here, she would make a lasting impact on many of her students - always opening up her home to her children’s friends and any animal that found its way to Mudville. Her proudest accomplishment was being a grandmother. She loved cuddling with her grandbabies and going to as many baseball games as possible.

Cathy valiantly battled breast cancer for nearly a dozen years and was a warrior through the end. She is preceded in death by her father, Lt. Col. William Larry Boyd, and step-son Stephen Sharp.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Sharp; children, Catherine Nicole Pannell and family of Mansfield, William Eugene Sharp, and Amber Marie Sharp, Cari Polasek and family of Temple; mother, Mary Boyd; sister Beth Guerrero and brother-in-law Ruben Guerrero; niece Taylor Guerrero; nephew Jared Guerrero and family; She is survived by her grandchildren, much extended family, and many friends she would claim as her family.

We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating and remembering the life of Cathy Sharp. A Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6th from 6pm to 8pm at Callaway Jones Funeral Home in Bryan, TX. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 7th at 10am.
