Michael Lee Greer Sr, 85, of Bryan, Texas passed away on June 17, 2026 after a long battle with cancer.
Mike was born on November 8, 1940 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Clyde and Margaret Greer. During his childhood, he spent a lot of time in Ft. Worth where he enjoyed exploring and hunting the undeveloped areas.
Inspired at an early age by one of his junior high teachers, Mike made the decision that he wanted to attend Texas A&M and study architecture. After earning his Bachelor's in 1964 from the College of Architecture, he continued on to get his Master's in 1966. Upon graduating, he went to work for Emmett Trant and Associates where he did many state-wide projects as well as projects for A&M. Mike later ran a machine shop alongside his son for 40 years cherished years.
Mike had a passion for playing golf ever since he learned how to play at the infamous Goat Hills Golf Course. He enjoyed playing with his buddies at Pecan Lakes and loved to compete even after he had gotten sick. After playing golf for 75 years, he never was able to accomplish making a hole-in-one. But to his surprise in the last couple years, he actually made two! It was an activity that kept him going and he was never one to complain despite not feeling well at times. He always did his best. Mike also enjoyed drag racing at Green Valley Raceway, gardening, and growing his jalapenos and tomatoes.
Mike was a man of integrity, a dedicated mason, and former Grand Master at the Cedar Creek Lodge in Kurten, Texas. He had creativity like no other and would often make small gifts for people, lovingly giving them to friends and family over the years. He loved going to Terlingua ghost town and adventuring around Big Bend with the "Bubbas". Visiting the Weavers Farm in Shiner was also a favorite of his, especially when he got to attend the town parade on 4th of July. Most recently, he found joy in getting to partake in movie nights and enjoying delicious meals with the Ravey's.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Margaret Greer, and loving wife Martha Warner Greer. He leaves behind his son Michael L. Greer Jr. and daughter-in-law Sharon Greer, son Mark L. Greer, grandchildren Tyler Greer, Ryleigh Greer, Benjamin M. Greer and wife Moriah Greer, Matthew L. Greer, Jacob Greer and wife Tami Greer, great grandchildren Mason Greer, David Greer, Phillip Greer, Titus Greer, John Greer, Stephen Greer, Joanne Greer, Caleb Greer, Elizabeth Greer, Jemma Greer, Eden Greer, and Amanda Greer.
A memorial service will be taking place to honor Mike on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10am at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home (3001 S College Ave, Bryan, TX 77801).
