IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ollie Kathryn
Rosenkranz
July 28, 1938 – January 25, 2026
Ollie Kathryn Rosenkranz, a vibrant and beloved member of her community, passed away on January 25, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones in Navasota, Texas. Born on July 28, 1938, in Overton, Texas, Kathryn lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication to helping others.
A proud graduate of Hearne High School, Kathryn embarked on a career in the banking industry before retiring from American National Insurance Company, where she served diligently as both a secretary and an agent. Her professional life was a testament to her work ethic and commitment, but it was her personal endeavors that truly showcased her spirit. Known affectionately as a "little stick of dynamite," Kathryn was feisty and energizing, always ready to advocate for the less fortunate, especially children.
Her passion for bowling was matched only by her deep love for family. For 25 years, she shared her expertise as a bowling coach for junior bowlers, nurturing the talents of those aged 2 to 18. In 2021, her dedication to the sport led her to be inducted into the Brazos Valley USBC Hall of Fame in 2021 and won Young American Bowling Alliance Volunteer of the Year in 2004. Kathryn's contributions didn't stop there; she founded the Bowling Power special needs bowling league, overseeing approximately 50 members. She coordinated fundraising efforts and solicited support from local businesses to ensure her bowlers could participate in competitions, and she organized numerous award banquets, picnics, and hayrides for the league, creating lasting memories for many.
Kathryn's interests extended beyond bowling. She enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, and crafting miniature dollhouses. Her culinary skills were celebrated within her family, particularly during the cherished Christmas Candy weekend tradition she began in 1966 with her aunt, Laura Rosenkranz, and her daughter, Terri Balanga.
Kathryn's legacy is carried on by her beloved family. She is survived by her “honorary sister and closest and dearest friend,” Sarah DeLuke; her son Bubba Rosenkranz and his wife Dawna; and her daughter Terri Rosenkranz Balanga and her husband Charles. She was the proud grandmother to many, including Dominic Balanga (Denielle), Candice Rivera (Bryan), Matthew Smith, Candice Freeman (Jacob), Clayton Rosenkranz (Katie), Kristin Farmer (Kevin), Danielle Hunt (Casey), and Colton Rosenkranz (Ashley); a cherished great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandmother to 6, with one more on the way.
Kathryn's parents, Truman and Gertrude Neeley, preceded her in death. As a family, they are immensely grateful for the care, compassion, love, and utmost respect shown to Kathryn by the staff at Golden Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation, who they affectionately called "Our Angels," and the Allumine Health hospice nurse Brenda.
A visitation with family will be held on February 3, 2026, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan, Texas, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed immediately by a funeral service until 12:00 PM. Ollie Kathryn Rosenkranz leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and tireless advocacy for those in need, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
