Ona Lee Pridgeon, 91 passed away on January 21st, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories we will cherish forever.

Ona was born on May 18th, 1934, in Cross, Texas to Oran and Sadie Taylor. She graduated in May 1952 from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Texas and married the love of her life, J.J. Pridgeon, in October 1952.

She spent 25 years as a teacher’s aide in special education for Bryan Independent school district. She had a special gift of patience and truly believed every student held a special place in her heart.

Her favorite place to be alongside her husband on their little piece of heaven in Tabor, Texas tending to their cows or working on craft projects together. They lived a life rooted in simple joys. She also loved the challenge of crossword puzzles and sharing a cup of coffee with a friend. Her warm smile was infectious; she had a special way of making everyone she met feel like an old friend.

Her children Matt and Dana were her pride and joy, her greatest achievement. She never missed a chance to let the world know how much she loved them. To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was known as Mawmaw. Her love was unconditional, it wasn’t just spoken but shown in the way she sat with you, cheered for you and most of all the way she sent you off, waving from the porch until your car was out of sight. That wave was her final “I love you” at every visit.

Ona is survived by her brother, Hank A. Taylor, son Matt Pridgeon and wife Gay, daughter Dana Boenigk. Grandchildren, Emily (Justin), Molly (Brandon), Heather (Clay), Justin (Amanda), Chad (Veronica), Callie (Dalton) Great Grandchildren Landon, Aidan, Bodie, Ryan, Charley, Taylor, Luke, Lincoln.

Services for Ona Pridgeon will be held Tuesday, January 27th, 2026. Visitation from 12-1pm and Funeral Service at 1pm. Graveside service to immediately follow at Bryan City Cemetery.
