Obituary

Pamela Dee Rowe, lovingly known as Pam, passed away peacefully at her home in Bryan, Texas, on June 18, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on January 24, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, Pam lived a life defined not by recognition sought, but by love freely given. She was the kind of person who quietly made the lives of those around her better, often without asking for anything in return.

On July 14, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Loyd Douglas Rowe, Jr. Their marriage spanned nearly 64 years, a lifetime of shared memories, challenges, adventures, and unwavering commitment. Together they built a family that became the center of her world and remained her greatest source of pride.

Pam is survived by her husband, Loyd Douglas Rowe, Jr.; her four children: Denise Hawk and her husband, Ken Hawk II; Doug Rowe and his wife, Elena Pugh; Diana Walker and her husband, Larry Walker II; and Dusty Rowe and his wife, Kim Rowe.

She also leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren: Ken Hawk III, Emily Hawk, Matthew Hawk, Cassidy Hawk, Asheley Hawk, Kimberly Ring, Stephen Rowe, Jackson Rowe, and Martie Rowe.

While she held many roles, none meant more to her than being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked full-time to help support her family, yet somehow always found the time to be present for her children. Whether it was soccer practices, weekend tournaments, long road trips, softball games, or simply whatever was needed at the moment, Mom was there.

If there was a soccer field somewhere across town—or across the country—there was a good chance Pam was behind the wheel getting her children there. She helped create countless opportunities for her family through sacrifices that were often unseen but never forgotten.

She loved many things: books, gardens, animals, traveling, watching TV, but mostly spending time with the people she loved. Her beloved dogs, Foxxy and Scooter, also held a special place in her heart. In retirement, she discovered a passion for bridge and became a skilled and competitive player, forming friendships and enjoying the challenge of the game.

Pam was also the family historian. A camera was rarely beyond her reach. She faithfully captured birthdays, holidays, vacations, graduations, soccer games, and countless ordinary moments that became treasured memories. Yet despite taking thousands of photographs, she rarely wanted to be in them herself. She was more interested in preserving the joy of others than drawing attention to her own.

Those who knew Pam will remember her warm smile, gentle spirit, irresistible laugh, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her home, her table, and her heart always seemed to have room for one more person. She had a gift for putting people at ease, making strangers feel like friends and friends feel like family. Friends and family alike left her presence feeling loved, understood, accepted, and valued.

She possessed a quiet strength that carried her family through decades of life's celebrations and challenges. She was humble, modest, and kind, but beneath that gentle exterior was a woman of unwavering dedication, resilience, and grace.

When asked what she was most proud of, Pam would have pointed to the family she helped build. Their accomplishments brought her joy, and the people they became, reflected the values she lived every day.

Though her chair is empty, her influence remains. It lives on in every family gathering, every photograph she preserved, every act of kindness inspired by her example, and every life she touched along the way. The countless pictures she took tell the story of a woman who spent her life focused not on herself, but on the people she loved.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary team at Brazos Valley Hospice. Their compassion, professionalism, kindness, and unwavering support allowed Pamela to remain comfortable and cared for in her home. The love and dignity they showed not only to Pam but to her entire family during her final journey will never be forgotten. We are especially grateful to Nurse Bay, whose kindness, guidance, and compassionate care brought comfort to Pam and her family during her final days.

A celebration of Pam's life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at C&J Barbeque in Bryan, Texas. In keeping with Pam's wishes, family and friends are invited to come and go, share stories, laughter, memories, and celebrate a life well lived.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
