Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1070 N. Harvey Mitchell Pkwy, Bryan, TX with the Reverend Loren Johnson officiating. Pat was born at home on October 1, 1951, in Moody, Texas to Jimmy and Nora Joyce Moore Baker. After years of moving as a child her family settled in Bryan, Tx. in 1968. It was then she met the love of her life, Robert Nichols. They knew they could not live without each other after three short months and married on November 8, 1968. She felt such love and happiness to hear him refer to her as "my bride" throughout the years, until the end. From this union came a beautiful daughter, a stillborn son, and a grandson, Braeden Tucker. Losing their son was one of the greatest hardships of their lives, but with the grace of God, the love of family, church family and many friends they endured together.
After working at Texas A&M University Registrar's Office for 30 years she retired and began a new chapter in her life exploring many hobbies and spending time with family and friends. It was one of the happiest times in her life to spend quality time with her mom and brother after retiring. Her new passion became quilting after her first class in the fall of 2005. It was a special moment to finish her first quilt for her mom. Over the years Pat became an accomplished part of the quilting community. She was a member of the Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild and in 2009 at the Brazos Bluebonnet Quilt Guild Show she won second place in the Quilt Kits category. She was also a proud member of "The Loose Threads" Quilting Bee. In 2021 a sister introduced her to her next hobby of raising Monarch Butterflies. That year she raised 106 and strived to raise more each year until she had to give them up due to her illness.
One of the biggest joys of her life was spending time with her grandson.' Not even an ice storm in Dallas could keep her from making a solo trip to see him. She also loved going fishing and hunting with her husband. She was even known to outhunt him on occasion. Pat was very active walking many 5Ks with friends and loved sports. She watched every Texas Rangers game possible and enjoyed all things Aggies including football, baseball, and basketball.
The best decision Pat ever made was accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church at its present location, serving in various positions. Her faith and trust in the Lord only deepened after being diagnosed with cancer. She trusted in His plan for her and was ready to meet him in Paradise. Even though she is gone from this life, we will miss her kind, caring, generous heart and that cherished word, "Sugar." Her memory will forever be treasured by her family, dearest friends and all who loved her.
Pat is survived by her husband, Robert of, 57 years, daughter, Sherry and her fiancé Travis Jernigan, grandson, Braeden Tucker, brothers, Lonnie Baker fd Wayne Baker, sisters, Cathy Munsey, Vicky Scheffler, Wynona Baker, Linda Nutt and Glenda Hargrave, an aunt, Willie Dean Lewis, numerous nieces, nephews, and countless cousins.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Jeffery, brothers, Jimmy Baker, Johnny Baker, James Baker and a beloved chihuahua, Willow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at NOCC, 12221, Merit Drive, Suite 1950, Dallas, TX 75251.
