Robert (R.C.) Record was born in Hearne, TX, July 12, 1933. R.C. graduated from Hearne High School and joined the Air Force. He spent four years in the service including in the Korean War. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant with 6 medals and was honorably discharged in 1955. After serving his country in war, R.C. became a chemist for Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, Merichem in Houston, and OI Analytical in College Station, Texas. R.C. loved to fly and obtained his pilots license in 1971 and flew until 2002. He eventually owned airplanes. He was a true Texan and loved his state greatly.
R.C. had a strong Christian heart and spoke of Jesus on every occasion. He was a long-time member of the Gideons and spent hundreds of hours volunteering as chaplain in several healthcare settings, including St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas, Brazos Valley Hospital, and Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson, Kentucky. He made friends easily and was beloved by people everywhere he went.
R.C. was preceded in death by his parents Florence Baxter and Robert Record, Sr., brothers Ralph and Byron, sister Winnie Sue, and Dorothy Pennington and Elenora Starnes.
He is survived by the love of his life, Sue Hooker, his daughter Gloria Mae Mays (Herb), and his sister, Jane Scott. Other survivors include William Starnes (Nancy), Tommy Lester, Robert Starnes (Robin), Karen Carter (Robert), Gene Peck (Cathy), and Nancy Peck. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, Amanda Hollon, Jennifer Hudson (Theo), Lisa Carter English (Shawn), John Austin Carter (Katie), Erin Starnes (Chase), John David Starnes (Kim), Kelly Starnes (Kiernan), Katie Beeny (Evvan), Christina Cohen (Mike), Anna Peck (Kenny Dixon), and Michael Peck. 13 great grandchildren also survive.

Service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Bryan, Texas, at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24,2025 and will live streamed. The burial will follow at Norwood Cemetery, Hearne, Texas.
