Mr. Robert William Squyres Jr., 81, passed away on March 17, 2026, at CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, Texas.
Robert was born on February 16, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy and, later, received his degree from Tarleton State University.
Following his military service, Robert dedicated much of his later professional life to serving veterans through his work with the American Legion Department of Texas, from where he retired in 2009 as Director of Internal Affairs.
In 1997, Robert made Somerville, Texas his home, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was an active member of both The American Legion and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Outside of his professional and organizational involvement, Robert often found enjoyment in woodworking.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Elizabeth (Reed) Squyres; his father, Robert William Squyres Sr.; and his sister, Barbara Johnston.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca Squyres; his children, Tiffany Baker, Tim Blaser (and wife Denise), and William Squyres; his grandchildren, Abigail McGraw and Seth Baker; his sister, Mary Wilcox; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory.
A private family service will be held at a later date, officiated by Rev. Randall Bard of Bethel Lutheran Church in Bryan, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert’s honor to the Love Like Morgan Foundation (www.lovelikemorgan.org).
