Rolland Francis “Joe” Hesalroad, 96, of Bryan, Tx, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Joe was born on June 15, 1929, in Mason City, Iowa. He is survived by daughters Dawn Hesalroad and Mary Hesalroad, both of Bryan, and his brothers Lyle Hesalroad of Colorado and Eddie Hesalroad of Iowa.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Annette Mae Hesalroad of San Marcos, his sister, Barbara Haws of Louisiana, and his parents Verle George Hesalroad and Mary Magdaline of Iowa.

Joe was born and raised in Iowa, graduating from Greene High School (Greene, Iowa) in 1947. He joined the U. S. Army Air Corps (known as the United States Air Force after 1947) after graduation. While stationed in San Antonio, Tx, he met his future wife Annette, whom he married in her parents' home in Luling in November 1950. He left the Air Force as a Staff Sergeant after four years and worked in Luling at his father-in-law’s Firestone Tire Store, followed by a long career in bread sales with Butter Krust Bread. In 1968, he moved his family to Bryan and went to work as a supervisor for Butter Krust Bread, and later as a salesman for Mrs. Baird’s Bread.

In 1994, Joe and Annette moved to San Marcos in order to be closer to family. Hewas a member of Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos where he played an active role. His role as a woodworker was his favorite title in his retirement years. He worked tirelessly on intricate creations via his scroll saw, frequently supervised by at least one of several beloved family dogs.

The Hesalroad family would like to thank the staff of Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan for their devoted care of Joe during this past year. In particular, the family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the incredible team at Allumine Hospice. The nursing staff’s loving care and comfort they extended to Joe and family in the past few weeks will never be forgotten.
