Sadia M. Hughes Homeyer, 83, of Bryan, Texas, passed away peacefully and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Sadia was born in Houston, Texas to Thomas Edward Hughes and Annie Mae Brewer Hughes Beeler on February 28, 1943, but grew up in Bryan and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School.
Following graduation, Sadia worked for the General Telephone Company starting as a telephone operator and eventually retiring as a supervisor in the customer service division.
Sadia met the love of her life, Herman W. Homeyer, Jr. and the two were married on April 18, 1964 at Northview Baptist Church in Bryan. They settled in Bryan and raised two sons. They also raised cattle and chickens. They also owned and managed commercial and residential properties in the area. Sadia and Herman were avid 42 domino players and hosted many games with their 42 club in their home. As a couple they loved to travel and cruised the world where they enjoyed meeting people and seeing the different sites.
Sadia was a devoted member of Northview Baptist Church for many years before becoming a member of First Baptist Church of Bryan. She was very active in her Sunday School class and planned many activities for its members.
Sadia loved her children, grandchildren and daughters-in-law. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play baseball, football and soccer, in addition to drill team and other dance events. Sadia’s love for life, with her unwavering dedication to her family and friends will be missed and she will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Sadia was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Herman W. Homeyer, Jr.; a son, William C. Homeyer; her parents, Thomas Edward Hughes and Annie Mae Brewer Hughes Beeler; her stepdad Wilmer C. Beeler; her in laws Herman W. Homeyer, Sr and Esther Steck Homeyer; and a sister, Mildred Fuchs. Sadia is survived by her sons Steven Homeyer and his wife, Rebecca Homeyer and Mark Homeyer and his wife Jill Homeyer. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashley Conley and her husband Hayden Conley, Lauren Homeyer, Cullen Homeyer and Kate Homeyer. In addition, she is also survived by her sisters Mary Smith and her husband, Roy Smith and Wilma Smith and her husband Morton Smith. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Thomas Homeyer and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Brinkman. Sadia leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends.
A memorial service honoring Sadia’s life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Memorial Cemetery of College Station located at 3800 Raymond Stotzer Parkway. Since the service will be held at an outdoor chapel, the family suggests that attendees wear business casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to the benevolence fund at the Crestview Retirement Community in Bryan or the American Diabetes Association in remembrance of Sadia’s extraordinary life.
