Robert Biddle

Robert Burel Biddle, 77, died at his home in Flynn on March 7, 2015 at 1:17 AM, after a lengthy battle with the disease Myasthenia Gravis.

Born in 1938 in the Normangee area, Burel was the 3rd child born to Willie Biddle and Gertie Scott Biddle. Living most of his life in Leon County, Burel attended Normangee schools until the age of 17. He spent the bulk of his career working for the Brown and Root Company, setting the platforms for offshore oil rigs. Later in life, he turned to public service and devoted his efforts to improving the county that he loved, serving as Leon County Commissioner of precinct 4 for 12 years.

Burel was an avid family man who was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed working outside, mowing the church yard, gardening, and playing dominoes with his friends. He loved listening to good, gospel singings and attending services at his church, Flynn Assembly of God. He was a fiercely loyal friend, and a dedicated brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord.

Burel is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Gertie Biddle, an older brother, Ray Biddle, a twin sister, Murel Adams, a younger brother, Billy Biddle, Sr, a son, Anthony (Corky) Giles, and a grandson, Zachary Biddle.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Biddle of Flynn, son, Robert (Bob) Biddle and daughter-in-law Margaret of Normangee, TX, son Mike Giles and daughter-in-law Beth of Houston, TX, son Brad Biddle of Flynn, TX, and daughter, Karen Davidson and son-in-law Alan of Big Spring, TX, and sister, Francis Evans. In addition, he is mourned by his 8 surviving grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a multitude of friends and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Flynn Assembly of God Church and a memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11 AM at the Flynn Assembly of God Church. Pastor Rick Smith and Pastor Dale Evans will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in his honor to the Flynn Assembly men’s ministry. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
